A beautiful Friday off work means exploring, and today we explored Great Falls National Park in Virginia. We climbed the cliffs of the Potomac and enjoyed the changing leaves. There was even a historic canal run that George Washington had commissioned for boats to be able to go around the falls.

Highlight of this "field trip"...
K: Carolyn, do you know how the trees are able to grow on the sides of these cliffs and not fall?
C: [way more interested in rock climbing than discussing rock formations and/or trees] No
J: The roots!
