We've been identifying Haiti lately, on the map in the office. The girls have seen snippets of news coverage, pictures in the check-out line, words on the radio. They ask questions like "What made the earth shake Mama?" and "Is that going to happen here?"

Interesting the things kids think about... worry about.

When our good friend returned from an orphanage in Haiti last week she brought the girls pictures. One, of a little girl in a simple blue t-shirt who loves nothing more than to be cuddled and loved, she reminded her of J. The other, with a big smile and colorful stripes who loves to sing sing sing, reminded her of C.

Interesting the way kids are so similar... so very lovable.

Now the pictures hang next to Haiti on the map. The girls identify these once-strangers as their friends. They share a common bond across the miles in their love of song and hugs - what more is there to life?
