I went to their room to see why they were being so quiet. The answer was a pile of dolls twelve-deep and as many wide - an audience for some upcoming performance I guessed.
x
"Wow! That's a lot of dolls!" I said.
x
"Mommy!?! Watch this!" C demanded, and promptly she and J lay down with the pile of dolls to demonstrate how they became lost in the sea of acrylic hair and plastic smiles.
x
"Crazy - I should get my camera." I replied.
x
"YES! Get your camera and I'll take your picture!"
x
We posed - hugging. She wanted us to kiss. We obliged.
x
Then she wanted one of "all of us".
x
"But we don't have someone to take it." I replied, curious to see if she would figure out a solution.
x
"Well...that's ok, the camera has a timer!" Brilliant, just what I was hoping she would say.
x
We set it on the dresser, huddled up and smiled big. She was happy. So were we.

the end.
