We had been at the Art Fair that day. One of those trips with the kids that goes better than expected, when you remember the diapers and the wipes, which is truly remarkable by kid number 2 (someday I'll tell you all about the clothes basket full of survival gear I required to go anywhere with Carolyn, and how Julia would get spit on a napkin for a wipe because I'd gotten a little more relaxed).

I stayed home back then, and Brandon worked at the church. I don't remember much from that year besides cuddling with my baby girl and that's a sweet, sweet memory indeed.

That evening I was surfing the web and came upon
DesignMom's amazing blog (blog, what's a blog?) and then she referenced NieNie and I was completely and totally inspired. I loved how she loved her kiddos, and her husband, and her life. I thought it would be a great thing for her children to remember their lives someday. When she was nearly killed in a plane crash the following August, I could only imagine how precious her memories were now.

Its a good habit, blogging. Every night it gives me pause, time to reflect on the day, to appreciate at least one bright spot. 1,689 posts later, and still truckin' along.

I agree! I feel like blogging gives me somewhere to put all of those thoughts that roll around in my brain. And it also allowed me to give up scrapbooking, which I hate with a passion. Win win!
