The BeadforLife necklaces, bracelets and earrings I received last month are nearly sold out! Every time I open the box at a group function women are quickly amazed by these hand-rolled beads from Uganda. They are so beautiful, in fact, that I wanted to share them outside of the KC area by hosting a giveaway of one of my favorite necklaces to further increase awareness about this awesome non-profit organization.

This is a five-strand necklace with beautiful green and tan earth tones. Hand-rolled beads made of recycled paper by beautiful women far away in Uganda. The women are HIV+ mothers, refugees from a brutal civil war, former prostitutes and other impoverished people. Before joining BeadforLife, all of the members struggled to get by on less than $1 a day. [More facts about BeadforLife can be read on their media guide HERE].

Besides entering the giveaway (instruction below) please consider hosting a BeadforLife party. It costs you nothing to receive a box full of gorgeous beads to share with your friends and family - and you can return everything you don't sell (they provide shipping both ways!) It is a fantastic program!

To enter the giveaway: Simply leave a comment. Please be sure to provide an email address in case your comment is randomly selected. And please spread the word about this great organization. Thanks!!!

I love products for a cause, and I'm always a willing supporter. This necklace is beautiful, and I would wear it proudly knowing the story behind it.

I love my bracelet and would LOVE to have this to give to a graduating senior who has a heart for helping others. I think she would love learning about Bead for Life so I sent her your info on having a party. Thanks for sharing this, Katie!
I always enjoy the amazing products and organizations you discover! You already convinced me to buy some Ssekos, and this seems like an equally great cause to support!
I love my new paper bead necklace and I have already had many compliments. It's a great conversation starter to help get the word out about the cause.

Our PTA gave them to all of the teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. They loved them! And thought they were Amazing! I think it was a great way to show appreciation to both the maker and the receiver. Thanks so much for sharing these extrodinary beads with us.

I love the idea. I am thinking of doing one and setting them out at school. I am trying to convince my mom to do one too!
Oo, I was hoping you'd put some of them on your blog. I wonder how they feel about sending them to Tasmania..
My mom, sister and I bought some pieces. The teachers who received the gifts were so thankful to have something beautiful - in appearance, the making process and the resulting change. Me too!

The necklaces are so beautiful. I wouldn't have thought they were made of recycled paper. The organization is definitely inspirational.

Those are really beautiful. While you never need an excuse to buy pretty jewelry, it is good know that the money would be going to a worthy cause.

What a wonderful way to support these women who live with such issues as HIV and poverty in their country. Thks for making us aware of others who are suffering.
